Journey to Recovery: Successful ETS Reversal Surgery

Treated by Dr. Shaiwal Khandelwal ,

Country: USA

Mr. Victor, a resident of the USA, suffered from palmar hyperhidrosis since childhood and underwent ETS (clipping of sympathetic nerve) in 2007 following that he developed severe compensatory sweating at his chest, back, and feet. He underwent clip removal in 2012 but his compensatory sweating did not improve. He approached Dr. Shaiwal Khandelwal, Associate Director, Max Super Specialty Hospital Saket, New Delhi for ETS reversal surgery. Robotic reconstruction of sympathetic nerve on both sides was performed using da Vinci robotic system. Restoration of nerve continuity through reconstruction of previously interrupted sympathetic nerve appears to be an ideal solution for patients who develop post ETS compensatory sweating and other side effects. The minimally invasive robotic surgery helped to perform this surgery with precision and without any complication with a long-term improvement in quality of life.
