Hussein Nazar Mahmoud's Complex Lung Surgery for CCAM

Treated by Dr. Kamran Ali , Max Super Speciality Hospital, Saket

country: Iraq

Hussein Nazar Mahmoud from Anbar had been struggling with breathing difficulties for years. Upon arriving in India, he was evaluated by Dr Kamran Ali, Associate Director - Thoracic Surgery Lung Transplant, Max Super Speciality Hospital, Saket. A detailed assessment was conducted, including angiography, pulmonary function tests (PFTs), and echocardiography. Based on these findings, surgery was advised. He underwent a right lower lobectomy, where the affected lower portion of the lung was removed due to CCAM (Congenital Cystic Adenomatoid Malformation). Since a small portion of the upper lobe was also involved, a posterior segmentectomy was performed. The surgery lasted approximately 8–10 hours and was successfully completed. Following the procedure, the patient experienced significant improvement. His cough and phlegm reduced, and his breathing became much easier, marking a new beginning in his recovery journey.
