A 65-year-old man came to Max Super Speciality Hospital, Patparganj, with a recurrent UTI, benign prostatic enlargement, and two big urinary bladder diverticuli of more than 1000-1400 ml capacity. One of the diverticuli was almost 10 cm in size. His uroflowmetry showed obstructed flow due to BPH (75 cc prostate). The patient presented with urosepsis, so he was catheterised, and Transurethral Resection of the Prostate (TURP) was performed after stabilisation.
The patient persisted with UTI after catheter removal at one week, so he was recatheterised and put on antibiotics. Robotic-assisted bilateral diverticulectomy with bilateral DJ stenting was done after three weeks of TURP. The surgery took 140 minutes, and blood loss was negligible. Most importantly, doctors saved both the ureters (very close to diverticuli mouth) without any need for such reimplantation. This is the 4 th diverticulectomy done robotically.
The best part is that Max Hospital, Patparganj, still maintain the ZERO BLOOD TRANSFUSION record in all Robotic cases!
